Family conflict hurts

Your loved one is clearly suffering intense emotional pain (whether or not they admit it.) Perhaps they have even been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. You have the best intentions and you try to help, and then you just get blamed even more when things don’t turn out right!  After enough emotional meltdowns, you stop trying to help or start avoiding your loved one, which makes things worse!

Even if your loved one is in therapy, you may begin to wonder not only, “When will this “kid” ever learn?” but now your start to think, “How can I get my own life back on track in the midst of this chaos?”

You just want to get your family get off this emotional rollercoaster!

You and your family need and deserve a better quality of life and hope for the future. You need someone who understands what you are going through and has experience in guiding families like yours toward recovery, not suggestions from some well-meaning friend or even advice from a professional who does not specialize in this area.

Perhaps even more important – you want to get your daughter or son into appropriate evidence-based therapy. Yet the more you push them to go, the more their resistance increases. You need the knowledge and skills to respond effectively…and to stop making the situation worse!

You have come to the right place.

If you have a troubled or difficult young adult in your life, if you live with or love someone who is emotionally sensitive and volatile, you may find yourself wanting to help, but getting more and more angry, scared, hopeless or even guilty. Or all of the above.

I can help you to better understand the behavior of your loved one and exchange your fear and/or anger for empathy.

Since 2006 I have helped over a thousand family members with a loved one who meets criteria for borderline personality disorder. I offer coaching and workshops based on dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills, mindfulness and compassion, and supported by recent discoveries in brain science. I have helped families with a loved one in therapy as well as families with a loved one who refuses any type of treatment.

DBT has the most robust scientific research that demonstrates its effectiveness at helping people to regulate their emotions, tolerate distress without it escalating into crises, and manage their own behavioral responses. Coaching based on psychoeducation and skills training can transform your life.

“There is a special energy in Corrine, a contagious courage and optimism and hope. She always has space for others. We always felt really heard. Her commitment and dedication are deeply supportive and generates a sense of well being .

Before doing this work, I did not understand what we were talking about, what I was facing, nor how to address the difficulties that we were facing. I was totally confused.

Over time I was able to understand, to accept a little, and try to learn and apply that to the family situations that we were going through. The difference was amazing.

I felt that I was able to improve my relationship with my daughter, although it took time and progress seemed slow to me. Learning about the depth of emotions and their physical sensations helped me a lot. I learned relationship skills that really improved my connection with everyone in my family.”
